Hello my fellow futurists!
I've been thinking a lot lately about community, specifically the XR community.
XR is a niche, but growing community and yet the majority of the groups are meeting in person or via Zoom.
VRARA meets in Zoom.
AWE has an annual live conference and monthly Zoom meetups.
Some groups are meeting in VR, but are geographically specific, like BostonVR. The whole point of VR is that it doesn't matter where you are though.
I work in the industry now, and yet 98% of my meetings are on Zoom. The irony is not lost on me.
I don't mean to malign the industry or these groups. I get it, there's a lot of friction to getting a headset on, getting into the meeting, etc. It's probably just an indicator that we're still early in the movement.
If you don't pay much attention to Twitter or Elon Musk you may not be aware he's in the midst of a maybe takeover.

You need to register for the site the interview is on, annoying I know.
But you can watch a YouTube preview here to see if it's worth it for you.

The military has a multi-decade jump on most industries when it comes to VR adoption, but even they're thinking and talking about the Metaverse.
