First things first, it's not Friday I know!

I think Tuesdays are a better day to send the newsletter for a couple of reasons, but also because we can get some nice alliteration out of of Tuesday Trends, the newsletter to keep you up to date on the Technology and Trends most likely to impact you in the next Ten years.

On the personal life front, I've been sailing with this new group, Convair Sailing Club, and my friend joined the club too.

Incidentally we discovered that 3 6 foot plus men should not sail together in the same 21 foot boat at the same time. It was comically cramped in the boat's cockpit, super fun though.

I've been writing a series exploring my boldest prediction, the fall of the United States through fracture within the next 20 years. In the series I’m examining why, how, when, and how you can prepare yourself.

Is the United States an empire?

The United States has behaved like an empire, and exerts control over other countries in the same way an imperial power would: the annexation of Hawaii (a sovereign nation) or the control of Puerto Rico (a US territory). Furthermore, the United States maintains active military bases all around the world. The United States isn't an empire like the British were, but the United States is an empire. Therefore it’s worthwhile to understand why empires fall and the parallels to the United States.

Grand Theft AI

As you may know I'm very into video games, both as a leisure activity and as a business opportunity. We're only at the beginning of a huge digital interactive entertainment media trend.

We're also at the beginning of a huge AI trend that I'm continuing to explore.

Put them together and you get some seriously mind blowing stuff.

When you watch this video, it's not about the graphics, it's about what's actually happening. This is a video game completely made by the AI neural network.

Don't get caught up on the details, just think about where this goes in ten years, especially if you combine this with GPT-3 an AI that can create plausible dialogue.

Is the US an empire?

The central premise of part 1 of my series is that the US is similar enough to an empire that examining parallels of why empires fall is worthwhile.
